Part:BBa_K3619006
cDNA encoding the ani microbial peptide EAFP1.
cDNA encoding the protein Antifungal peptide 1 (EAFP1). The protein binds chitin and has a broad antifungal toxicity, it has proven antifungal activity against several plant pathogens [1].
The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) against testes species was between 35 to 177 ug/ml. The proteins antifungal activity is sensitive to Ca ions, which could 100-fold the IC50 at a concentration of 5mM calcium. EAFP1 has no shown inhibitory activity towards bacteria. [2].
The protein contains 5 disulfide bridges, which may be problematic in bacterial expression.
